During the concert intermission a demonstration of table hockey with the participation of the best international and Czech Stiga hockey players will take place. Throughout the championship you as spectators will have the opportunity to get in close proximity to the playing tables, which is rarely possible in other sports at this level. Last year we went through two involuntary member changes, when due to health reasons we were forced to find a new keyboardist literally from one day to another and after a thorough selection process we also got a new drummer. While (believe it or not :-) ) Michal David established himself on the keyboards and the band noticed a great contribution of his participation immediately, in the case of the drums things were not that easy. After almost 10 months we ended cooperation with Gleb Chuykov. We hereby thank Gleb and wish him lots of success.

With Bali, we have already done the final Norwegian part of our spring Scandinavian tour and the way he has caught up with the rolling train is great! The following brief profile also proves the fact that he is no slouch:

_"Petr Baláš has been active on the music stage for already more than 12 years. He is a graduate of the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory, and the drummer Václav Zima has been his long time lecturer and principal mentor, with whom he has taken private lessons. **Petr is the company player of the #1 world brand of cymbals Zildjian, as well as the founder of LOLA band, with which he played for 6 years and won i.a. the Mercedes Benz Live Space Show and the Real League contest**. He has participated in other projects too, such as the Tábor Superstar Band, Slovak Popcorn Drama band and others. He has also recorded a number of albums. In addition to those of the bands he played with, he also made recordings for the Sobi20, Lukrecia and Country Steel bands. Petr is also involved in pedagogical activities. He is currently preparing a video class in collaboration with Kytary.cz and his new drumming textbook will be released in the summer of 2017. He teaches at the Sezimovo Ústí Art and Music School and Želivský Art and Music School in Prague."_

And if you put one and three next to each other, you will get the number 13 – on **April 13** we are having for a big performance at the **Kalich Theater**! This latter show will be the only Czech stop within **our spring European tour**, during which we will stop by **Denmark, Sweden, Spain, Finland, Norway** and therefore the **Czech Republic**! We are all looking forward to seeing you all. We set up the individual concerts in such a way that you can get something unique at each and our playlist is as varied as possible. The concert is scheduled for April 13, 2017 from 19:00 and will be part of our Scandinavian tour. So we are going to make a stop in Prague for this very unique concert, for which we will bring the dramaturgy of the whole tour to Kalich. Size-wise it will be the biggest concert we have ever had in Prague and it will make full use of the potential of the theater environment and equipment of the Kalich Theater. Soprano **Petra Alvarez**, soloist of the National Theater, will make appearance as a guest of the concert.

We conceive our shows as a concert theater – and this performance will be twice that! Do not miss it.

The [J. K. Tyl Theater](https://www.djkt.eu) will dedicate the repeat performance on October 2 to the prevention and fight against this disease and will support the activities of the Positive Life charitable foundation. The performance on the New Stage will be followed by a few additions from **QUEENIE** band and the visitors will have an opportunity to see a photo exhibition in the foyer. There will also be an autograph ceremony with the main performers: [**Michael Kluch**](http://www.michaelkluch.cz), [**Richard Ševčík**](https://www.djkt.eu/sevcik-richard), [**Iva Marešová**](http://ivamaresova.cz/) and **soprano** [**Monika Sommerová**](https://www.facebook.com/Monika-Sommerova), who will sing the famous opera duet Barcelona together with the band. The New Theater building will be illuminated in red all night long.

"Freddie Mercury would have been seventy years old this year, and twenty-five years have passed since his death, so we have decided to make this performance special in way and help the good thing at the same time. We want to express our support for the Positive Life foundation, which has focused on preventing and fighting AIDS for a long time," says the theater‘s art secretary Michal Lieberzeit.

From September 27 to October 2, an exhibition of black-and-white photographs capturing the everyday life of people infected with HIV will be placed in the New Stage foyer. The exhibition is traveling and besides Pilsen it could be seen in Prague, Munich and Zurich. In addition to photos, there will be information boards dedicated to the aforementioned patients in the foyer, through which they provide an opportunity to look into their private lives afflicted with the malicious disease. "I think the J.K.Tyl Theater contributes enormously to the prevention and fight against AIDS by having a performance about Freddie Mercury on the repertoire," said Miroslav Hlavatý, chairman of the foundation’s board of trustees. The patronage of the event was taken over by the Minister of Health of the Czech Republic MUDr. Svatopluk Němeček.

It is not "just another concert" for us. It is a return to our roots and, at the same time, a confirmation of the journey we have taken over these twenty years. Memories of 2008 come back to us, when we had the honour of performing at the then Mercury Montreux Memorial as the historically first tribute band from the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Back then, we were at the beginning, full of determination and dreams. Today, we return as experienced professionals with seven sold-out O2 arenas, tours across Europe, and more than 1,400 concerts under our belts. Yet, as we approach the shores of the lake and see those familiar Alpine peaks, we feel the same flutter in our stomachs as we did back then. It is respect. Respect for the music that connects us all, and for the place where Freddie found his second home.

**The Magic of a Place Where Time Stands Still**

Imagine this: You are standing on the waterfront, the majestic peaks of the Alps towering above you, and before you stretches the calm surface of the lake that once provided peace to the soul of **Freddie Mercury** himself. It was here, in this picturesque corner of the world, that the **Queen** frontman found his sanctuary in the final years of his life. This is where the albums Jazz or Made in Heaven were created in the famous Mountain Studios. And this is where his iconic bronze statue stands with its fist raised to the sky, silently watching over this magical place.

Performing at Freddie Days is specific in its atmosphere. The audience here does not consist of random passers-by, but the most loyal "die-hard" fans from all over the world – from Japan to Brazil to the UK. When we performed here in the past, for example at the **Montreux Jazz Festival** or during previous editions of the **Mercury Montreux Memorial**, we felt that indescribable energy. Playing for such an audience is the hardest, yet most beautiful test. These spectators know every note, every beat of **Roger Taylor's** cymbal, every guitar solo by **Brian May**. And that is exactly why we are going there. Our philosophy of "concert theatre," our insistence on original keys and authentic arrangements, finds its most appreciative audience in Montreux. When **Michael Kluch**, whose vocal abilities and performance were even honoured with a Thalia Award nomination, hits the first notes of **Bohemian Rhapsody** or **The Show Must Go On** in an environment where these songs resonate more strongly than anywhere else in the world, a magical connection is born. It is not playing at being Queen; it is a tribute to Queen in its purest possible form.

**Queenie's Concert Theatre on the World Stage**

Why do we speak of it so poetically? Because performing in Montreux is not just "another tour stop." It is like visiting someone's home. The invitation to **Freddie Days** is, for us, a confirmation that the path we set out on back in 2006 makes sense. We are often asked what the difference is between a concert in the O2 arena and a performance in Montreux. In the O2 arena, we create a monumental show with pyrotechnics and giant screens – it is a celebration of Queen's magnitude. In Montreux, however, it is about intimacy and a spiritual connection. It is a dialogue between us, the audience, and the legacy of **Freddie Mercury**.

To be chosen as the main musical program for such a significant event is a huge success for a Czech band. It is no secret that the organisers in Montreux are extremely demanding when it comes to quality. Because in Montreux, you don't just play for the ears; you play for the heart. And for us, it truly is a matter of the heart, because it is a place where we feel part of something bigger.
